Choosing your holiday:

We have tried to give as much information as possible on our website so that you can choose your holiday to suit. Obviously if you would like more details or have any questions or queries, then phone us or send e-mail, and we will be happy to answer your questions.

Information we would like from you:

Booking Confirmation

If you need time to think about a booking or arrange flights, we will normally hold your holiday for you for three working days.

To confirm the booking we require a deposit of 25% of the inclusive holiday price and a signed copy of our booking form. This form will be emailed to you or our agent in the UK can post you a copy by first class post.

If your holiday commences in less than eight weeks, full payment will be due when you book.

As soon as we have received your deposit, we will send you a Confirmation of Booking, showing details of your reservation, the amount paid, the balance due for payment and when it is due.

Any outstanding balance is due at least eight weeks before the commencement of your holiday

The deposit cheque and booking form, signed by the first named person – the ‘party leader’ [who is responsible for all payments to us] and the final payment should be posted to our accountant in the UK at:

Terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions, together with the essential information following form the basis of your contract between you [The Client] and us 'The Alpujarra with a Difference' [The Company]. The term client covers each person named on the booking form. Signature of the booking form by the first named person agrees contractual acceptance of all terms and conditions by all members of the party. A binding contract between us comes into existence only when you receive your confirmation of booking and after full payment is received / and cheques cleared.

Booking and Payment A deposit must be paid to and cleared by us before we can confirm your holiday, unless you are booking less than 8 weeks before your holiday date - in which case payment must be made in full. The deposit is 25% of the total holiday price, with the full balance due 8 weeks before the holiday dates. Our confirmation of booking will remind you of the balance amount and its due date. We will not send further reminders and if payment is not received by the due date we reserve the right to treat the holiday as cancelled by you. Once we confirm a holiday booking, we guarantee that we will not increase prices.

Changes or Cancellations

Changes Total party cancellation 60 days or more prior to departure date loss of deposit, 59 – 30days 45% of holiday cost, 30 days or less 100% of holiday cost.

Cancellation of individual persons will cause loss of deposit pro rata. Changes by you to the named persons will not incur a charge, however it may be necessary to charge for changes to dates or the type of holiday. You will be informed of these charges at the time you inform us of the changes.

If we have to cancel your holiday then all monies paid will be refunded and you will be notified immediately. If cancellation by us is less than 30 days [other than client failure to pay their balance] then we will pay compensation of £25 per person. We will also try to agree a mutually convenient alternative date. If we have to make a significant change to the holiday then we will endeavour to agree these changes with you. If we cannot agree the changes we will offer you an alternative holiday [if this is less expensive we will refund the difference]. If we cannot agree then all monies will be refunded with an additional £25 per person if less than 30 days before departure date. Compensation will not be paid where the holiday is cancelled or changed due to 'Force Majeure'. This particularly includes adverse weather conditions. Rarely changes may have to be made during the holiday. If this situation occurs any refund or compensation will be entirely at our discretion.

Insurances

All clients must as a condition of booking have full and sufficient personal injuries, personal effects and full medical expenses insurance. In the case of riding holidays, it is the clients' responsibility to ensure that their policy is appropriate. Many basic travel insurances will cover casual riding but may reject claims on the type of holiday offered by us. It is an express condition of booking a riding or novice riding holiday that your insurance fully covers riding and emergency medical needs. Further, it is the responsibility of clients to fully understand and comply with the terms of their insurance.

Clients should note that we do not accept responsibility for loss, theft or damage to their property howsoever caused. Guests should ensure that their travel insurance covers their personal needs.

Medical

It is best to obtain a form E111 from your local post office, or to have the new European medical card– this usually entitles you to free medical treatment in Spain or to reclaim on your return to the UK and to ensure that your travel insurance gives you full protection.

Travel Arrangements

Flights - with the significant increase in the number of airlines flying to Malaga or Granada from the UK, we leave the booking of flights to the client. Thus they can choose time, price and level of comfort. If you have arranged airport transfer then pick up from Malaga or Granada is normally at 1430 local time on Saturday and thus your flight should arrive at least an hour before this time. This is to enable us to arrive with clients back at Cortijo Los Nogales by early evening. The return transfer arrives at Malaga or Granada airport no earlier than 1130 the following Saturday and your flight should correspond. Clients should note that the transfer drive could take up to 3 hours [Malaga] or 90 minutes [Granada] depending on weather and traffic conditions. If you are unable to make these times then please contact us as it may be possible for alternative arrangements to be made.

Car Hire – if you wish the booking to be organised by us we have an arrangement with an excellent car hire firm based in Malaga and Granada and by quoting our reference number you will obtain a 15% discount – they are not necessarily the cheapest but by taking out their extra Collision Damage Waiver you will be insured to drive on unmade roads and the underside of the car will also be covered. As with flights there are a large number of car hire firms based at Malaga and Granada and other airports and prices will vary depending on the time of year and a firm's individual availability of cars. When booking a car the advice we would give is that in view of the distance from the airport and the terrain once you are in The Alpujarra Mountains that it is a mistake to hire the smallest car and it should also be air-conditioned. There is no problem with an ordinary car, driven carefully, negotiating the unmade road to Cortijo Los Nogales but if you intend to explore the mountain tracks we would recommend at least a high wheel base car and preferably a four-wheel drive. If you are hiring a car then subject to time and our availability we will meet you at the bottom of our mountain to show you the way to your accommodation.

Behaviour

When booking your holiday you accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by any of your party. Guests will be asked to modify unacceptable behaviour. This is especially relevant when trekking. Guests who fail to modify behaviour will be asked to end their holiday immediately and our responsibility to them including return transport will cease. In this event, no refund will be made.

Complaints

If a client has a complaint, it should be brought to our attention at the time, so that we may do our best to provide a remedy. We will not entertain complaints made at a later date. If for any reason, the problem cannot be resolved to your satisfaction you should write to us within 14 days of the end of the holiday with full details so that the matter can be investigated.
